I chose this picture from the movie Kingsman as an example of mise-en-scene. The setting is a perfect contrast to what is going on in the photo. Church is supposed to be a place of peace and worship, free from violence and murder. The lighting also helps create contrast as well. The film makers used top lighting to show the light coming in from the windows above the cross, making the situation even more tense. By using free SIM cards put in phones to incline the entire population towards violence, Richmond Valentine, the villain of the movie, is able to put Harry into this horrible situation. It helps create more anger toward the villain so that I can side with Harry, the protagonist, more.
The costumes used in this scene also help really drive the church and violence theme home. All the actors are dressed in clothes not suitable for violence (except for Harry, he has his Kingsman suit on!). I also think the make up on the woman's face really helps bring out the look of fear as she stares into the barrel of the gun.
